Alabama Hills is located near Lone Pine California in the shadow of Mount Whitney and is famous as a location for movie filming. The rugged landscape is dotted with rocks and arches and the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains as a background.

North and South Dakota offer stunning landscapes, plenty of wildlife and inspirational Mount Rushmore.

Acadia and the surrounding areas of New Hampshire and Vermont are at their best in the fall. Nowhere else can you find the deep reds along with brilliant yellows and oranges when the trees change colors.

Alaska defines scenic grandeur and immense landscapes with incredible wildlife.

The national parks in Utah are perhaps the most colorful in the world because of the red soil and brilliant blue skies. The weathering and erosion of the Colorado Plateau has created innumerable scenic wonders.

The Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California have been described as the Galapagos of the North because of the species found nowhere else. The remoteness of the islands allows many species to exist without fear.

Death Valley defines desert and yet it has much to offer. Standing on the salt lake bed at 200 feet below sea level is impressive as are the many colorful formations around the park.

Glacier is one of my favorite national parks. There are so many waterfalls, lakes and streams to photograph. But, Glacier is also home to many easily spotted wildlife icons such as bears, moose and mountain goats that provide great subjects as well.

The Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway are full of color in the Spring and Fall seasons. There also are many old mills and cabins that make excellent subjects as well.

Arizona is hard to beat for just scenic grandeur, with the Grand Canyon as its showpiece. The canyon's personality changes throughout the day and it challenges the best of photographers.

Yellowstone is the oldest National Park and one with the most diversity of terrain. Everywhere you look you see steam rising from the ground from geysers to boiling mud pots. Buffalo (American Bison) herds roam freely along with many other interesting wildlife.

Yosemite is still my favorite National Park as I have been visiting the park for more than 60 years. There is no place on earth to rival the majesty of Yosemite Valley and it certainly is one of the most photographed places in the world.
